did the men produce a regular 2009 penny or did they simply make the four versions of the Lincoln life series? Thank you!

First 50 years were Wheat back's, second 50 years memorial back .. so if they keep the cent, my guess would be shield back for next 50 years.

just my opinion, but I am doubting the shield cent will continue to be minted for 50 years.

IMO the shield will be minted for 50 more years, because it took the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth to change the memorial design.

Well, I doubt the cent will be around in 20 years let alone 50, but I suppose I could be wrong.

Changing coins seems to be the way forwards. It makes 'em more money. Australia and Canada are massive fans of just about everything coin! The UK has decided to go that way too, never had more than one pound coin before, 2010 sees THREE!! Maybe it will make coin collecting more interesting in 50 years time, more coins to find etc, but at the moment it is like having State Quarters attacking you in a nightmare!

I agree. I would not be surprised if they stop minting them in the next five years.

All coins and paper money will cease to exist in 20 years.
We will all have debit cards for all point of sale transactions.

The pilot program is ongoing at many of the major universities and colleges.
No cash on campus.

Why the change? The Lincoln monument has work so well, and the new design just don't have that historical feel to it. It just to plain!

ALL of our coinage and paper money has undergone a COMPLETE overhaul in the last 10-15 years if you think about it. (except for the Dime)
