Got an eamil from the mint today. This coin is now available at Royal Bank.
Im guessing the Petro Canada collector cards are ready to go as well.

I picked up 4 rolls at RBC today. One of the rolls has a red reverse at one end and a silver reverse at the other; this must be a rarity so I'll put this roll aside for now. In the other 3 rolls I found:

roll 1: 3 red MS60-62
roll 2: 5 red MS61-63
roll 3: 3 red MS61-62

I also have the RCM collector set Cindy Klassen and noticed a difference in the thickness of the edges of the maple leaf:

Circulation roll:

RCM collector set:

Well I sent an email to my RBC banker today and they dont have them yet. On another note, I'm a stupid idiot. I went to 2 different Petro Canada stations to find the collector card, only to get home and discover I already have it.
For the life of me, I dont even remember buying it before.

Great vision, Malibu. These are 2 definite die varieties- the "collector set" variety has the edge of the maple leaf at left extending to touch the "C" of CINDY, and the furthest right point extends just to the "J" of JB, while the "circulation roll" variety has the left edge of the maple leaf extending way to the left of the "C", and the right point extending completely over the "J". Subtle, but definitely 2 die varieties, like the Men's hockey varieties.
I got 4 and 2 colourized from the first 2 rolls I got, all the "circulation: type.

I don't know if it is the picture's or my imagination but it looks like the top of the maple leaf to the rim is a greater distance on one than the other? I don't have any coins as of yet to compare anything thanks for the heads up.

Interesting difference in the colors of the leaf itself. The red one has the typical "rough" background; the one that looks more coral doesn't have this. Which set does this come from? Is it the big one with all the quarters and the two (three?) loonies that I've seen at the drugstore postal outlets and Shopper's Drug Mart? Or are we talking the Petro Can card set here?

It jus' gets more confusing all the time...

It also looks as if the top of the small maple leaf (with the olympic rings) is closer to the horizontal line on the circulated quarter.

laconic: "This coin is just coming out now? I bought the coulor and non on dec 21 off ebay and got them before the new year."

I know that some dealers get their mint supplies early ... I saw some of these rolls Dec 24 at a store I visit (but not offered for sale until Jan 05). I don't know the mint policy on this stuff, as I've seen ICCS certified MS-65 2010 Lucky Loonies on ebay already...

Either someone's opening stuff received early, or ICCS forgot to hit that loonie with a "Numismatic BU" tag and it's from the Vancouver 2010 uncirculated set.

The RCM set I picked up at Gatewest Winnipeg for $28 contained 9 coins:

-2010 1 cent with logo (magnetic)
-2010 5 cent with logo
-2010 10 cent with logo
-2009 25 cent red colour Men's Hockey with countersunk 2 (the common one)
-2009 25 cent red colour Women's Hockey
-2009 25 cent red colour Cindy Klassen
-2010 50 cent with logo
-2010 lucky loonie with Olympic Logo and the Inukshuk-ilanaaq which is the Inuktitut word for friend (circulation issue date Feb 15, 2010)
-2010 toonie with regular polar bear and logo

I think there were two dies used for Cindy Klassen: one for the 22 million non-colorised quarters and the 15,000 RCM special set colorised quarters with fat-lined maple leaf; and the other die for the 3 million regular circulation colorised quarters with thin-lined maple leaf. In other words, they made the special set red quarters using the die for the non-colorised quarter.

The same thing happened with men's and women's hockey.

Good for you, Malibu. I couldn't see the whole outline of the "set" coin to say that, but it sure looks like you are right. So we are talking about 3 dies for the colourized Men's hockey, and 2 for each of the colourized Women's and Cindy Klassen coins?

Just checked my petro canada klassen and its got the "rough" red/white leaf with thin border. Still miffed about this, the Olympic ones were different compared to the circulation ones, why did they just stick the coloured circulation ones into the plastic card and still charge $10 for them !?
