Just trying to figure out which coin publications also may have paper money values in them. I think I saw one of the monthly coin mags that had a section for paper money/notes. If somebody could help me out and let me know which coin magazine has paper money values in it and how often they include paper money values I would appreciate it. Also any good links for that kind of info would be nice. Thanks for any info!

Price guides are so suggestive of what prices should be (in the estimation of the person putting the guide together), and they are no longer reality, although they are a good indication of a note's worth relative to other notes.

Reality of what a piece is worth is the price it actually goes for in the marketplace. Take a sample note and research paper money auctions and ebay to get a much clearer picture.

If I'm not mistaken, Coins magazine shows paper money prices, but not in any great detail. Another caveat is that Coins is a Krause publication, and that makes it automatically suspect, since in my books, Krause isn't necessarily an authority on the price of anything; they have so many price guides on so many diverse collectibles, some of which only serve to undermine their credibility (see, for example, any volume of Warman's Guide to Antiques, which looks like their researchers just basically went around to a lot of garage sales).

Definately good points. Like you suggested I just want to get some ideas on what things are worth relative to other notes. Kind of getting a ballpark. Even just categorizing notes as to what is worth more and why.
Basically if I want a certain note just because it is appealing to me I just don't want to get ripped off. I know a fair amount about coins and can realize a good and bad deal fairly well (within reason), but I don't have much knowledge at all about notes and I don't really have a desire to get into it too much, just want some basic ideas and guidelines.
