Any opinions on grade would be great. Sorry for so many pictures but my digital microscoe will not get far enough to take a picture of the whole coin. Also I hear the term VAM alot but not sure if this is one or not.

I dont see anything that stands out to make this a VAM and I think it would range in the EF range, definately not a AU in my opinion and maybe even cleaned because I see some fine lines around the neck of lady liberty

I can almost say this coin has not been cleaned because I have had it since I was a kid (about 30 years).....if anything it has been poorly stored. I have just recently got back into collecting coins in the last 6 months. I have about 4, 1921 Morgans from when I was a kid (my uncle use to give them to me) I wanted to maybe trade some for dates I dont have. I will be posting pictures of other ones soon. I did not want to post them all in one post so I can get an ideal on wich one to keep and what ones to trade. That mark by the neck could be from the reflection of the led light from my microscope ?

Hi Tpatna

although your pics with the microscope are good !!

Its best to have a pic of the whole sides of the coin,, one area needed to grade morgans has been missed ,, the Breast ,, this is the center of the grade for the reverse.

I'm a bit on the conservative side so I would say EF. I'm not partial to coins that have severe scratches on the face of the figures and there's a real big one next to her nose and on her brow. That would lower it's appeal to me. I would not give it an AU unless it had fewer scratches and better luster. A few more feathers on the breast would be nicer too. High VF to low EF. ( I meant VF and not VG so I edited to say what I meant)

Hi Tpatina

Thanks for the additional pic,, I see the coin as a VF-35 just short of EF based on the wear on the breast and the Hits on the face.

I would have to agree with MetalMan on the VF-35 grading. The coin has an overall solid strike, but due to the wear and some of the marks, VF would be a close bet.
