At first glance this looks like it was hit with some kind of punch, but after looking closer it dose not add up. There is no displacement of material to the outside of the circle, the edge is well formed and the coin is not bent in the least.
Any thoughts?

Could you post more photos of the weakness on the reverse and of the obverse around Lincoln's nose and Lincoln's hair?

It is damage, the reverse is flattened. That would not happen on a struck-through.

Looking at the close up of the E in CENT I think it is post mint. Let's see what others say.

I agree completely it is not a struck thru error. What I was looking at was if the damage was on the planchet before it was struck. I figured the reverse would have weakness opposite the damage just like on a Cud.

Biokemist was the first to post the correct answer. NO struck-through is going to show damage on the opposite side of the area in question.
