I just got this lighthouse coin case today. I ordered it before Christmas through Wizard coin. The order was really messed up they sent the wrong trays for the case, So I called back and ordered the new trays. Then they sat on that order because they told me the wrong trays for a second time. Then I guess were afraid to call ... anyway enough of that. I really like the case. It is lockable aluminum case with 5 trays, that will hold 20 2X2's each. The tray are lined in a velvet type material and are enclosed in hard clear plastic. I bought the case to free up space in my safe, by taking coins out of the mint boxes and storing the shipping and jewel boxes. I also ordered some Intercept Shield hard coin holders for commemorative dollars, I really like how the coins look in them and in the case, so I will order some more. Only thing I don't like about the 2X2's is some of them don't seem to snap together very well and pull apart when taking them out of the tight fitting 2X2 slots. Does anyone use these and have the same problem? I also bought another case off ebay, from Vernon coins, to fit the first set of trays, not sure what I will be putting in it but I really like these cases. Here are a few pics, please let me know what you think. Edited by GR58 01/19/2010 10:51 pm

Your coin case looks beautiful. After I fill the holes of my Littleton coin case with lunar coins, I will order one like yours for my world silver coins (5 done (ASE, Kookaburra, Libertad, Panda, and Britannia- just arrived today) and many more to go).

Dollarcoins That is a great idea. After hearing you mention the lunar and Kookaburra I have been wanting to get some of them. I do have another case coming, maybe I will use it like you are saying. Do you know how many different countries make silver bullion coins. I see you mentioned 5 and I know there are maple leafs. Thank you for the good idea. Tom

I have identified below coins for my world silver coins project - one (larged-sized) silver coin from one country. More than half of coins can be directly purchased from the mint. I am still trying to identify a commemorative coin for each country without issuing silver billions. American Silver Eagle Australian Kookaburra ( Perth Mint) Australian Kangaroo (Royal Australian mint) Canadian Maple Leaf Chinese Panda France mint - to be determined from online shopping Great Britain Britannia Mexican Libertad New Zealand Kiwi Russian George the Victorious (added by oih82w8) Somalian Monkey (added by oih82w8) Switzerland Alpine Ibex crown-sized coin (added by SeriousCERES) Virgin Island Friendship (English lion and American eagle on the reverse) Zambian Elephant (added by oih82w8)

Thanks for the good list. I know I am going to try and get most of those. It might take me a few years, with working on everything I am .. at the same time.
Please post some pics when you get some new countries.

I'll take the opposite of everyone on this one. Rather on the pessimistic side for over spending on storage equipment for coins or almost anything that is normally not ment for public viewing. Those are really nice looking but for me it's just a bit on the over spendature side. Possibly you live in an area where you can show off, allow viewing, display your coins to people such as neighbors, friends, relatives, etc. If so, then nice presentations. For me in an area of high crime, such items are similar to a flag or sign in front of my house stating I've got something valuable here. Again, just a bit of opposite opinion. I'll stick to safe deposit boxes.

Carl Interesting line of thought, sorry to hear your neighborhood is not all you would like it to be.
It is not really a display case, more of a storage case. It will be locked in my safe or can be put into SDB. I do not work, so I am home most of the time. I live in Florida where the laws are more in favor of the home owner protecting his home. I live outside of a small town in a subdivision that has one acre lots, six foot fence with dogs. From my front yard I can see the homes of a state police officer, a retired New York police officer, captain of the fire department and few retired military. I am also retired military and believe in having guns ready if needed. My dogs and neighbors dogs always let me know when someone is even walking down the road. If someone does come into the neighborhood there are always neighbors calling each other .. just to find out what it going on. I even get calls if there is a strange car in my driveway. I am the type that I will not let others dictate my lifestyle, although I do keep things locked up. If somehow someone did steal my coin collection, those that are home and not in the SDB. That is what I have insurance for, while I am sure I would not like it .. my life would not be over because of it. I get a lot of pleasure working with my coin collection, I know I would not like it as much if it was all locked up in the SDB. Also I am in no way saying how others should store their coins, only what is right for me. As far as overspending, I think that would be different for everyone. There are many single coins I will put in it that are worth more than the case.
