I have checked 2 1921's and they both have doubleing on the ones and trust but no gouge below the t. Could it be a different VAM?

Possible you have an EDS, (Early Die State) referring to the coin with Dbl'g and no gouge below the t in trust.Just one possible option...

All of the letters, dates and even the edge of the profiles are doubled. One more so that the other. Is it a DD or a die variety that is not listed in the Red Book? Both have long die cracks along the top of "States of" and one also has a long die crack rumming around the top of the stars and e pluribus on the obverse.I cannot attach pics as the come out too large on my scanner. If you can help with identification I thank you.

If you'd like, email them to me (this username AT coincommunity.com), and I'll massage them until they fit here.

I'll just list the specific steps; I don't know your current knowledge level so feel free to ask questions - the worst we can do here is help other members.

I use the Gimp, a free image-editing program. There are many others, free and pay - Photoshop, Irfanview, etc.

1) Crop everything but the coin from the image.
2) Size the coin image to 800 pixels, the largest I can archive here at Coin Community, and plenty large enough for accurate opinions.
3) Save the new image at reduced quality, so the new file size is only around 200kb, small enough to fit any hosting.

Haven't gotten your email yet - I'm here until about 1PM EST so I should have time to get it done.

I've split this out into a new topic, so as not to dilute the other thread.

Halfwitty, the pics you sent were ready to post as I received them. Here they are:

Did you not get all 4 pics Dave? They would not let me add them saying they were too large.Must have reduced in the email somehow. Are all 21P's covered in die cracks Dave?

Oops. Used Quote tags instead of Img tags on two of them.

The die cracks are familiar to me, but not definitive themselves - these two are likely early die state examples of existing VAMs, perhaps even VAMs for which the cracks aren't the real deciding factor.
