My uncle came across some old money, it looks japanese. We're trying to figure out what they are and what it is worth. Any help would be appreciated.

Both 50s are 50 sen (1 sen = 1/100 of a Japanese Yen) notes issued by the Japanese government during WWII. The first one was issued in I think 1938 (P58) and the other one was issued in 1943 (P59).

The Philipine note is a "silver certificate" issued by the US when the Philippines was a US colony. You have a Victory series note! Which means this was issued after the liberation of the Philippines in 1944 from the Japanese.

These notes are all from the war! May I ask if anyone in your family served in the Pacific Theatre during the war?

Values from World Paper Money 12th Edition.

50 sen 1938: VG .25; VF .75; UNC $6
50 sen (Showa YR19 = 1944): VG .25; VF .75; UNC $3.50
1 peso (if it's P117) lowest values: VG $1; VF $3; UNC $17.50

Any chance of a picture of the reverse of the peso? It might help to pin it down.

Vic
