It's an English 2pound from 1998. It's in spotless condition. I presume it was some sort of limited edition

also
I have over three hundred mostly english and irish coins that I am trying to sift through and sell. I dont know a whole lot about coins and this is the only resource I have been using to value my coins (see my othre posts)

Is there a website which lists coins of interest or rare coins etc that I can refer to and then compare to my list or would I be as well off taking out 5 or 6 at a time and searching that way

thanks for the help

Hi Marc.

I also have this coin. It is catalog no. KM#994. Value is US$6 in uncirculated condition. Probably the best way to get an idea of value is to go to the library and borrow a book called "Standard Catalog of World Coins" by Krause and Mishler. If you need help to grade the coins, post them in the grading section, I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that would love to help grade them for you. The other way is to check e-bay for similar coins.

Sorry, Marc, but that's a fairly standard circulating design £2 coin. CV is US$6 in Unc, but that one looks circulated - only face value. £2 is about US$3.70 at the moment.

As to your general query, I'm not aware of any comprehensive online catalogue or "list of rare coins" for British. Your best bet would be to buy or borrow a copy of the Krause catalogue. Alternatively, you could do an ebay search for "completed items" for particular coins, seeing what they've actually sold for before.
