Another one from my fathers collection.

"Irregular 1956-D" is what's written on the 2x2.

What happened to the 6?
Rest in Peace

The coin was hit and damaged at the 6 at one point in it's life.

Heck, this coin is only 6 years older than I am. And I'm fairly certain that I've been hit and damaged more than once myself.

I tend to forget just how soft copper is...

Thanks pyrbob...

Probably caused when the coin was wrapped somewhere during it's life. The devices/fields suffer when these are machine rolled. Don't think this happens? Over a roll of the OBW rolls and note how the outside coins suffer.
