I attended the show on Friday, I had not been to this one in several years. Unlike the big fall show, the Silver Dollar and Rare Coin Expo, this one mainly had regional and local dealers but around 100 were present. The bourse floor was buzzing with activity and was surprisingly crowded. The tables were kind of close together and the crowds made it a bit tough to navigate.

I went with the intention of filling a hole or two in my 7070 and working on my early Washingtons, I managed to accomplish both tasks. My first stop was the table of my favorite EAC dealer, Tom Reynolds. He is one of a very small number of dealers I will purchase from without shopping around. If he is at a show, odds are he has the best early copper hands down. I picked up a Draped Bust Half Cent from him, completing the copper section in my 7070.

I then went out in search of some Washingtons, picking up a 1935-S in MS63.

The same dealer also had some 1934Ps and one in particular stuck out for me- a beautiful Light Motto variety priced as a regular 1934P That would be cherrypick #1.

I was then perusing the box stock of another dealer and found cherrypick #2, a 1957P Type B reverse. For those that do not know what a Type B rev is, it is an uncommon to rare reverse variety on Philly Washington quarters 1956-64. Specifically, the Type B reverse is a proof reverse design from the recycling of proof dies for business strikes, 1957 is one of the tougher ones. The primary PUPs are the separation of E and S in STATES, leaf at the arrow heads is sharp and rises above the tips of the arrows, and tail feathers are strong.

I made a couple other purchases as well, a 2010 Silver Eagle and a couple nicely toned Roosevelts, a 1954-S and a 1956-P. I was only at the show for about three hours but came away very satisfied with my two cherrypicks.

Wow, congratulations James Garcia does an excellent job of cataloging the coins for Scotsman. That auction probably gave you the best return for the coins you had.

Thanks, she's happy and her brother, who didn't want to put them in the auction is even happier.

Nice Half Cent. Not easy to find those. Is it my imagination or is that 35 Washington sort of scratched up on the obverse?
Just being nosey but I noticed you didn't mention prices.
Good photos of all of them.
As with most coin shows lately they are getting more and more crowded. One rahter smaller one I usually attend has gone from one room in the Holiday Inn to two rooms and both are full including the aisle to the rooms. That show you attended is becoming typical as to crowds.

I love that Half Cent! I met Tom Reynolds at the South Shore Coin Club show in Milwuakee last Friday. He is a great guy to talk to...very down to earth, and I have yet to see any dealer in person that has more knowledge or quality inventory of early copper coins. Every time I stop at his table, I just sit there in awe at some of the beautiful specimens he has. You did well!

I think I paid $100 for the Half Cent and $85 for the 1935-S quarter. The pics do make the quarter look a bit scruffy now that I look at them again I had just gotten a new camera around the same time I took those photos and was still working out the kinks, the 35-S does look much nicer in person but there are just enough small contact marks to keep it at a 63. The 1934 was the real steal at $40, Numismedia lists the Light Motto in MS64 @$190
