i keep getting sucked into these "unsearched" wheat pennies! ugh! I did this once before but actually had a good experience. this time all I got were 40's and 50's and 1 1934(besides the 1919 and the merc on ends, by the way, the merc was a 1944)! wasted 13 dollars! Wanna bet he will sell 11 rolls like this? Sorry lafaa123, but you've got no one to blame but yourself. Looking at the images, did you really believe they were unsearched? This is just a case of wishful thinking overriding common sense. Hopefully you will learn from it. Cheap enough lesson. Some sellers are just too dumb for words. If you're gonna seed rolls, at least use a different ID to buy the seeds.

The feedback follow-up posted by your dad in the last few minutes says: "im sorry I just looked at the merc date and it was a 1916d not a 1936d! sorry! " Is it a fake?

Arghh... In an attempt to make the seller think he gave away a primo coin, he left great feedback for the seller that will likely make others buy this crap now.

I've been tempted to by Rolls like this from ebay but I guess I knew better. This is 2010.Unsearched Rolls are just a Gimmick to get you're dough.I'm sure there might be a few Rolls here and there that have not been searched in fifty sixty years but too leave a Neg feedback isn't cool. You took a chance and lost.Don't ever buy a lottery ticket because when you loose they won't give back you're money

I'm sorry, but in my opinion, I don't think negative feedback was warranted. He clearly states there are no guarantees and that some buyers have only found dates in the '40's and '50's.

Unsearched rolls? Ha! That's like a used car salesman who always says it was a church lady who was the previous owner!
On a positive note, at least it was an inexpensive lesson learned.

I believe "unsearched" on ebay is rarely that. There is just too much cash at stake for a seller to let a key coin slip through his fingers. So, my advice, Caveat Emptor. Particularly on ebay.

I believe a neutral would have been more appropriate. Unfortunately, he did hype it a bit too much but like others have said he did say that some customers have found only 40's and 50's and that there are no guarantees. I admit, these "unsearched" rolls are really tempting, but I've been able to avoid them by looking at auctions for SLQ's.

Quote:Particularly on ebay. Scubu, I understand what you're saying. I thought of that as well.. but it was such a tongue-in-cheek jab at the seller that it made me laugh! I do hope potential buyers don't take Dad's comment at face-value. lafaa.. On the one hand, "unsearched rolls" is false advertising at its finest. It has shown to be able to reel 'em in though, so people keep hollering it. On the other hand, you have to know what you're buying or risk being taken for a ride. And that's everywhere. There's a couple of other great threads on this subject, if you'd like to read them. Just do a search on the forum for "unsearched roll". LOTS of opinions on it. Ask Dad to go to the bank and get a box of customer-wrapped rolls.. you would probably have a lot better chance of those being unsearched!
