I'm starting my 7070 album and was wondering if I should crack some of my slabs to add the coins to my album or not? How much does this affect the values?

if you look at mine you will see I have no problem cracking out the coins for the album. I did however save the labels and glue them to the back binder page. if you haven't seen my 7070 album you can click the link in my signature to see it. As far as values, I didn't go with key dates or anything so authentication really wasn't a huge concern but I do not plan on ever selling the coins in the album so value really wasn't a real concern to me either. I hope once I am gone most of the coins will appreciate to where they will be worth quite a bit more than I paid for them

that's what I do, as long as you keep the piece of paper that has the grade and all and take pictures of the coin in the slab, it shouldn't effect the value. I laminate the little piece of paper and then tape them to the cover of my 7070 so I know the grade and that way its not far from the coin. make sure you don't damage the coin while taking them out cause I've had some close calls

There are a few coins for the 7070 (and my other Dansco albums) that I might not be comfortable buying unless they were in a slab. But my concern is more about authentication than it is about value.

That said, I have no problem with the concept of breaking a coin out of the slab to put into my album, especially if that is the only way I would be able to complete the album.

Dern! Another time I see jbuck respond to a 7070 question so I click on it expecting to see pictures of his album and just words once again

I know, I sound like a broken record.

Just to make it easier on you, if and when I finally take some pictures, I will put them under their own topic... "Jbuck's 7070 - With Pictures!"
