Pick up a whitman folder of nickels Complete 1938-1961 for $13 at a local online auction site. I think its a great deal. cant believe no one else bid higher. proof sets were going for 30+ that you can buy at the local coin shop fo $7.5 I just dont get some people. I also bought 6 foreign coins for $6. and 2 are silver and 2 are $2 cad coins so made my money there. ill post some pics later

$13 for the Whitman Jefferson folder? SUPER Deal! Just the silver in the Warnickels is worth about $11 or so! Sweet!

I saw the same thing at auctions on proof and mint sets over the past couple weeks. Bidding high for these, nothing special. Silver coins going for retail or slightly above. Wheat cents are ridiculously high.

Are you talking about those blue Whitman folders where you have to push the coin into the slot?

Nice pickup! Quote: Are you talking about those blue Whitman folders where you have to push the coin into the slot? Probably, but more important, it is apparently completely filled with nickels.

Aside from the "Silver War Nickels".......some might say that the 1950 D would almost be worth that alone too ! ...(depending on condition of course !)...

Heres the Pics. Hard to tell from them. Maybe I can get some better ones. the silver nickels looks to be cleaned / found metal detecting but they are still silver.

Yeah I don't know. Possible... If he did then he lost some money on this set. He could have listed it on Craigslist and gotten more money and not had to pay the auction commision. O well his loss my gain

What would be a fair price to sell this set for?

Someone in CCF just bought one for $25 and most thought that was a good deal so if you just wanted to flip it, I'd think you could get at least that much.
Also, someone else bought a partially filled folder with buffaloes and found a three-legged. So definitely check the pre-54 for Hennings, the 43 for doubled eye and 43/42, and various the mint over mint marks.
