jprine,
Congratulations on the completion of the set. Nice looking coin
to finish the set with.

Mach1,
Couple of very nice looking coins there

1971 and 1972 Ike's are my absolute favorite years, Just due
to amount of chaos that was going on at the Mint at that time
trying to get the Ike's minted correctly. Not only the hard work
of just getting the presses to mint them correctly but the political
chaos also involved at the time, Fierce Eagle Versus Friendly Eagle.
Leads to the many different varieties that we are finding today

cc99999,
1972 S MS68 Nothing more be said by me about such a beautiful
specimen other than

It is good to here about the MS69's being made by PCGS
I think they may be finally getting their heads wrapped around
the
Eisenhower dollar Series. There has been so much controversy
with PCGS where Ike's are concerned over the years. Hopefully
that time is coming to an end and we can just get back to objective
grading and attributing of coins.
It has always amazed me when a coin has to go through no less than
three Professional Coin Graders who have chosen this field to make
their living, And a coin comes through where something like
a Circulation Strike coin accidentally minted on a Proof Planchet
and the hair on at least one of the Graders neck does not stand
up and they recognize that they have something Very Different in their
hands. They just pass it through with an MS Grade.
Like I said above I hope this time is coming to an end.

Clash 1. Is a raised line between the fifth feather from the front
of the wing that runs to the top leaf of the olive branch.
I am not 100% sure, but I think it is a part of a Moon Line die clash
which comes from the outer edge of Eisenhower's head on the Obverse.
If you look at the crater just below the Eagles talons you will
see a line running through it. That is a part of a Moon Line die clash.
The clash by the wing seems to be pretty much in a line with the
clash in the crater which leads me to believe it is all part
of the same clash. Not sure though, I have not seen one that strong
under the wing tip before. Hopefully one of our other Ike Nuts
will chime in on this they may have seen this before.

http://www.ikegroup.org/ML.htm Clash 2. The UDU "Upside Down U" is on the obverse, Just
to the right of the "E" in WE There is a raised area running from
in front of the "E" and curves around the top of the "E"
That is a clash from the first "U" in UNUM
Here is a link to an Ike Group Article on this specific die clash
http://www.ikegroup.org/UDU.htmClash 3. Talon Head, On Eisenhower's Temple,this one is a
Double Talon Head. Sorry I do not have a close up of it.
Quote from Ike Group
"The Talon image is created by a nubbin on the reverse die that clashes with Ike's temple on the obverse die. Possibly unique to modern coins, this reverse die nubbin (which on the struck coin is the deep declivity between the Eagle's legs) rises above the field on the die so it can reach into Ike's temple and make an image there when the dies clash."

Chuck, Thank You,
And Congratulations on the 1971S MS66 PCGS

I can't wait to see the pictures I bet she's a stunner
71 S's in any kind of high grade are a very hard thing to find
When someone on here can go through 400 Blue packs and only
find a couple of decent enough specimens to buy.
Things are getting interesting.
