Welcome Barbi! We need all the Ike lovers we can get. There is a local coin shop (LCS) in my city that will not carry Ikes because they are copper-nickle clad.

Thanks for welcoming me. In my quest to try to find more information on the coins I had, I too had visited a local coin shop. To no avail. The guy told me he would give me 1.50 for each Ike. I told him no thanks, they must be worth more. The sentimental value alone is worth more than 1.50.

Welcome Barbi! Ike's are a special coin to me, but unfortunately since they are not made of PM, the monetary value of average pieces from circulation are not like the actual silver dollars whose size they mimic. However, their true "worth" is what we bestow upon them as a favorite collectable.

I'm thinking about buying this. Any guesses on grade and price? NOT an FEV.

cc99999: That sure is a nice '71D! Probably the nicest I've ever seen. It's got a be an MS-66* or MS67! That's going to co$t you a pretty penny! $140-ish for MS66, $200+ for MS67?

BaySinger, Congratulations on the first Silver Ike Purchase Looks like you picked out a nice one Charles, Very Clean 71 D with some nice shine to it. My guess is that PCGS put a 66 on it, granted that the reverse is as clean as the obverse. As far as price, Do not have a clue. Terry

It's a 67- though it did not CAC. It's substantially more than Mach1's estimate. It is a very nice coin that has only one thing I feel that holds it back- it's slightly weakly struck on the left.
Current pop 16 pieces.

Charles, The exact reason I thought that PCGS would give it a 66 the West region of the coin. 67, Very nice 4 figure Coin. Here is a quick group shot of some I picked up today at a local coin shop. I thought I would share The Close up Shot of the "R" is on the 76 D Type 1 in the upper left of the group shot. Terry
