Picked up a couple of blue pack and brown box ikes from ebay a few days ago. This 72s Proof I cracked out of the brown box. I didn't like the way it looked in the plastic. Is seems to be a DDO with nice Strike Doubling on ONE DOLLAR on the reverse. There are split serifs on some of the letters of IN GOD WE TRUST especially both T's and the R. I posted over on the IKE forum also for ID help. Any opinions on which DDO this might be? Thanks, Chuck. *Strike doubling rev. *R*

Chucks was talking about the mint mark, 1972-S. Not the year 1972 in general. Also, I believe you have to have so many posts before you can actually offer coins for sale or trade.

And to keep with the theme of the thread, this is one of only two Ikes I own. A worn, but still lovely friendly eagle. Even has the shuttle still present, the dark spot between stars 4 and 5, my scanner is bad at catching things sometime.

Thanks, I don't even remember where or when I got it. But when I noticed the date while going through some loose coins, I just had to check.

Chuck, Congratulations on the new 4/21. Particularly like the way you laid out the post. with pictures and descriptions of the Pick up points Very Very Cool. Have you been able to ID the 72 S Doubled Die Proof yet I have looked at it a couple of times a day since you posted it and nothing is popping up in the old computer on my shoulders.

Thanks Terry!
No, but the coin is going to be sent to Tom K (IDDD) tomorrow for possible attribution.
I'll post results here. I'm just hoping this is not another 1972S DDO-MD. (AKA No Premium!)
It doesn't look like the pics on pg 156 of the old ARED book.
The doubling on the T's, the letters you and the W in TRUST look different from the DDO-MD.
What's your opinion?
