My husband and I bought an old, post-German house. Previous owners had left of a lot of old junk in the attic. Initially we wanted to get rid of this, however, when we were ordering the house it crossed our minds that maybe some of those items may have some value. There are mainly old books, several paintings, some ceramics and coins of course. Has anyone of you got an idea who would be able to value those items (if they have some value), or where I can sell them?

Any recommendation would require knowing what you have. As for the coins we would need to know what type of coins, what years and mint marks. And in most cases would need to see pictures.

I am sure it would be the same for the other things you listed. As for me I am not even sure what "post German" is. Or what type of market there is in Poland.

Yes, pictures would be needed for us to be any help at all. A picture tells a thousand words. Here's a possible starting point for you:

I don't know much about the paintings, ceramics, and other "junk", but I do know there is a healthy market (in the States at least) for certain books from earlier in the century. I doubt we here can be of much help with pricing these but poke around the internet first before selling -- might have a quite valuable one!

PS - DO NOT clean any of the coins no matter how dirty they appear. Cleaning them only hurts the value.

If your ceramics are LLadro figurines made in Valencia, Spain, they would be worth lots money if you can put them up for sale in the right market.

for most European coins this site might be helpful in determining pricing. You most likely will; find just about any european coin there, regardless of age. it is a very reputable site containing well over 200 European dealers, each with their own shop. It helped me often to determine possible value of a coin.

If you can post a list of the coins. Maybe they are not high value but interesting pieces for collectors.
