I tried to photograph my latest acquisitions last night. The re-chargable batteries expired when I went to download so I gave up. Here's a list of my recent picks: 1878 8TF VAM 5 (raw - Fine) 1878 7TF VAM 116 (raw - AU) 1878-S VAM 22 (raw- VF) 1878-S VAM 36B (dragon scales with die break 'E') (raw - MS63) and my favorite ... 1880-P VAM 6 (spikes) (raw - MS61/62 PL ) I'm hoping for a couple of additional treasures on inbound coins. I should be able to post pics tonight.

I hope I don't jinx myself, but I have one coming that might just rock the house.

Quote: Also sorry to hear it ... but ya still gotta man-up and give us the details. Thought I'd nailed an AU 1878-S Long Nock. It turned out to have a little patch of toning in just the right spot for a relatively-small photograph to deceive both me and the Gimp - you gotta have detail for a blowup to work. What I got was a fairly nice, original AU 1878-S for a slightly inflated price. Here's the auction pics: See what I saw? Here's the coin: Same coin - note the two gouges on the cheek - but the scan doesn't even capture the feature that made me think it was a Long Nock.

Dave, From my present location, all I get to see are those annoying little red x's in a black box. I need to ask (since I can't see 'em) is the 'r' in trust full and the 4th right star unbroken in the photos. I've used these two additional diagnostics for verifying 78-S long nocks from less than perfect photos. It's saved my bacon on several occasions.

The "r" is unbroken, and the star is chipped but not enough to have shown in the auction photos.
