I purchased this Morgan for the appearance. However the 2x2 was labeled VAM13 LDS. I went to vamworld and looked at their pic of the vam13.

I do believe this is a VAM 13 LDS. My coin definitely has the broken 8 in the date as pictured on their website. I can also sucessfully photograph the doubling in MERI and I can see the doubled star. I guess I need a scope to see some of the other markers VAM world has for this one.

I would appreciate the VAM specialists to comment on this as to whether they agree it is VAM 13 LDS and also what you think the coin grades.

Thanks,

Here are the pics I believe you are requesting. I am not sure if they will be clear enough for you to see what it is you are trying to see.

Well I misspelled lower oopps! The photos need to be sharp. It looks like Vam-13
But there are rumors that there could be some with an inclused (N) and (ST) in the hair Vee. The vee is the one that is to the far right side slightly over and above the last digit. See if you can get clearer shots that are closer.

I like the look of this coin the toning is sweet!! I would bet dollars to doughnuts it is nicer than the photos!! :)

As far as a grade I have no clue.. I just re sent 3 coins in as they are nicer than other MS-63 coins I have in the same type. (They where graded at MS-61's) ... On re grade they came back from the same grading company that had graded them 3 mouths prior as AU-55 AU-58 an AU-58

Your coin is die state five of the five known stages of 1887-P VAM 13. Your coin is considered late die state. Your coin looks Almost Uncirculated due to lack of detail on the ear. That can either be due to wear or weak strike.
