I found a 1929 Canada Cent in a roll, and I was trying to research whether it was the High 9 or Low 9 variety. Having no luck! Anyone know where I can find pics of these online, or does anyone have pics? Any info would be appreciated; thanks!

Thanks coinsrfun!

I am assuming that the High 9 is the photo on the right; the tail of the 9 is higher on that one than the one on the left. If this is the case, I have the High 9, which is supposedly the scarce one. Any info on what these might be worth? All of the ones sold on Heritage that I looked at appear to be Low 9. I will photograph mine later on, but it definitely matches the photo on the right.

For some reason you cannot isolate individual pages to link to on this site. Click on one cent varieties and scroll down past the large cents to get to the 1929 photos.

CND... the pages are in a frameset, so the individual pages load by themselves in the main area without disturbing the rest. The page you can go to directly is http://ashrap.com/page21.html

And this might help:

According to Price Guide for Canadian Coins 2009, the High 9 trades at about 33% higher than the Low 9. There is a Low 9 Double Reverse Rim listed as well, which is in the middle of the Low and High, price-wise. Also don't forget to check ebay.

Thanks for all of the info everyone! Here is the photo of the one that I have; since it was from a US roll it is a far cry from MS63! My guess is VG, based on the King's crown.

Interesting how the tail on the 'farthest right nine' is so much longer than the left coins nines...

....or am I seeing things again...

HI I know this is a old thread, but I am having a hard time figuring this one out, is the attached coin a high 9 or a low 9?

Minar, hope you enjoy your time here. It looks like a low nine to me. Best way to tell as previously shown is to lay a straight edge along date. Hard not to deceive ourselves when it's so close but the last nine is noticeably higher when measured with a straight edge.
