I don't know what kind of machine you use ricardocody, but that's messed up. Mine will short me only about 50 cents each dump because it counts a few dimes as cents. Never been even close to as short as you are getting.

The machine gemed as I was dumping the coins so the teller cleaned a peace of gum from the sensor but nothing could be done !

That is why I dont think I could trust coin counting machines. I would much rather take the time and count them myself and ensure I get every cent worth. Counting the coins adds to the enjoyment IMO. Plus none of the banks in my area have counting machines.

Nice 96w! I'm jealous. BTW, who roll searches for the only purpose of profit? If anybody is roll searching for profit, I'd find a new hobby. I'm with you googoo, you roll search because you enjoy it. If you don't enjoy a certain coin type or think it is boring, hey that's cool, no big deal, don't search them. Problem solved!

whoa whoa whoa, I never ever said I roll search for profit.

in fact I will quote myself

Quote:
Bottom line is, nickels and cents are just so much more fun. With dimes...other than silver, what is anybody even searching for. Roosies are the most boring series with the least amount of varieties, better dates, and even errors out of any series ever produced by the mint.

I would also like to point out three things googoo;
first,
check out the progression of posts on page 119. I made a post stating how I was displeased with searching dimes and wasn't addressing anyone specifically. You decided to make a snide remark at me when I was never talking to you. That's fine I suppose but then.....
second,
after some useless banter during which you misquoted the values of several things and seemed to have no qualms about discussing the value of your roll searching at all until now apparently
third,
you admitted that we were both arguing stupid things and should probably spend our time more wisely. I agreed and wasn't really gonna continue this dumb discussion....then on page 120 here comes another snide remark directed at me along with a claim that I roll search for profit....yes I just break those guys open and report all my income to the IRS.

So what is it, do you have anything else you'd like to say to me or are you actually done now. I just wanted to post here and say how bad dime roll searching has been for me and you have taken personal offense for your dimes...can anyone explain why my post is any less worthy or informative of a post than any of the others.

My apologize hesgut if I insulted you.

Quote:
Yeah, that's the only 1996 W you're ever gonna find. I will likely never find one. 3 silver dimes, which is more than I ever found, are worth what, $6.

This was where I took that from. Again sorry if I inferred incorrectly. I know I wouldn't want to be incorrectly pegged for a profit hawk either.

Lets be honest, though when you post:

Quote:
In 6 months from now, I'll lower my intelligence again and probably get another box.

How do you really expect people to take that?

Also I'm gonna bow out of any further discussion on this topic, I just wanted to clarify what I said and to apologize if I had misinterpreted anything. Everyone have a nice New Years Eve, cause I'm going to.

Ricardocody,
Anytime we ever have problems like with our coin machine the tellers rerun everything back through the machine in a balance mode or something. I just think that is terrible that you say the total is off and they see a piece of gum in the coin machine and wouldn't balance their machine to at least try and get your total correct.

I hope you hit a nice silver load next time just to make up for that!
Rest in Peace

I doubt that roll searching is profitable for the time and money (gas, etc) put into it. It's a hobby/entertainment, like eating out or going to the movies. As a profit center, you could buy far more coins/silver by working the same hours overtime.

Went through my 6 String boxes and finished this morn.
Normally I don't keep track of the Canadians, but this time I did, three dozen out of $1,500.
3 skunks, 5 silver rosies and a '60 sailboat.
And speaking of clips, take a look.
Happy New Year all, ffd
