Quote: I bought 2 rolls today, found nothing of interest. Are there any varieties that I should know about while CRH? I'm rather new to this. The key to searching dimes is volume, especially if you are looking for silver. The average is about 1 silver dime per $150 searched. As for varieties, pick up a copy of "Cherrypicker's guide". Good luck.

Kenscott, in $150,000+ dimes searched:
1)cwr and mwr average the same silver count. 2)roughly 2 silver per box 3)27 silvers in one roll-cwr

For me I search almost exclusively Brinks boxes, just because they're easier and quicker with the clear plastic rolls. I dont figure up my percentages of silver found, but I guess it averages about 1 1/2 per box. For me it seems to come in waves, a long dry spell followed by a string of boxes where I find multiple silver. For example my last box yielded 3 64ds. That makes 7 silver in my last 2 boxes. My best is 7 silver in one box.

I just did my best box of dimes ever. I feel confident that the reason I found so many was because they were stained with something. It kind of reminded me of an acid or chemical stain. I found 7 silvers. 6 were Rosies ranging from 48 to 64, but they were all different. I'm sure a couple of them were 'first time finds' for me. The last one was actually another Canadian but I was surprised to see king george on the reverse. It was a 1943 and unlike the others, it appeared to be clean and unrelated. One of my favorite finds.

True that.
Went through $100 CWR and found a 1947, 1948S, and a 1964D.
It was a very exciting night. My fiance was watching me search and now feels like it's less of a waste of my time, win-win!

I have tried a few boxes of the Brinks dimes in the clear wrappers, but have had no luck going that avenue.
So far, my finds are coming from CR rolls. Some of my local CU chapters seem to be happy with the idea of me picking up their CR rolls; it evidently saves them the trouble of shipping them back to the Fed.
So far it seems to be a win-win situation. Also, my secondary bank has a coin counting machine which makes dumping the dimes much easier than dumping halves.

Picked up 3 boxes and $1,200 in cwr between 4 banks yesterday. Boxes, not so great, 2 rosies. Cwr's, 6 rosies. On a side note, my favorite teller recently told me that she sold 3 rolls of solid silver quarters to a customer, a lady "collector". I stayed cool, but blew a head gasket in my mind! Politely asked teller why she didn't call me. "I thought you only liked dimes and halves." Aaaaaaaarrrggghhhh

I've decided to try dimes again since nickels are starting to run dry around my area. Got $30 and found nothing.
