I realize I didn't find this roll hunting, found it metal detecting yesterday, but had to share it you. Hope it's ok.

A beautiful Barber dime.
I do not mind. Very nice!

wow it has been a long time.. 6 months maybe...

i have sinced moved and gotten a new job, so things are kinda tight financially, for now anyways... ok so I have only $40 to use for roll hunting.. I feel so poor..lol..

anyway, I was going to get pennies, but the CU just shipped out.. so they had $1000+ dimes.. I WISH I could of gotten.. but only got $40..

and Valois! 1x 1963-d! I'm boosting my 1per $100 average! I guess I can keep going back for $40 at a time and see what happens?!

Picked up another $55 in CR dimes today from a local branch of my CU.

Bingo! 1962-D

So, the total for my $505 of coin rolled dimes is:

3 Rosies
4 Canadian (non-silver)

Searched a box and found
1 x '64
1 x '53
3 x '09

Should I keep the 2009 dimes or just toss them back?

Another pickup of CR rolls provided a nice 1952-D.

Total was around $320. So, not as good as the first pick but still not a skunk. :)

Probably not a big deal to you folks back in the States, but I found a 2007 D Roosevelt dime today in a bag of 100 5 pence coins. First time I found a US coin mixed in with a bag of UK coins.

Questions:

1.) Do you tend to find more silver dimes from CR rolls or from machine rolled coins (i.e. the Fed, Loomis, Wells Fargo, etc.)?

2.) What is the average number you tend to find when doing a box of dimes? (To me, a box constitutes $250 in dimes).

3.) What is the most you have found in one search?

I have done halves for a good while and am now turning to dimes and possibly some nickels (for the War Nickels).

Thanks,

Kenscott

well after the $40 success.. I happened ot get $50 in CWR in pennies from the same CU.. it was great! I got 2 solid rolls of wheats! I put 2 and 2 together and went back for the $1000 in dime... wife let me use $500 at a time...

i netted 8!

first $500:
51-p
53-p
61-d ... looks like it was in a fire

second $500:

43-p!MERC!
62-d
63-d x2
64-d BU

not too bad, although given the 2 wheat rolls I found in the same batch of CWR's, I was hoping for some solid silvers! o well.. 8 dimes in one day, I'm happy

No, but if I found a 2007 UK coin, I might feel the same way you do. Nice find!

I bought 2 rolls today, found nothing of interest.
Are there any varieties that I should know about while CRH? I'm rather new to this.
