i empathize with you.
wells fargo has been crap for me all around:
cents: avg 4 wheats
halves: 0, all 2001 UNC brand new, every time I get them..
dimes: 0
quarters: 0
id stick with customer or string n sons

I have been getting spanked on rolls. Dimes,quarters,halves all the same  No silver.  I'm going to try a different approach Monday. A local bank I had a account with years ago has a coin sorter/counter. This would seem like the best place to get silver coins. If aunt Sue takes her life long coin jug in the coins are sorted and dumped in a bag. I'm going to open an account there Monday and see if I can buy those bags. Has anyone else tried this? |

Centsless, buying the bag off of the coin counter is a great idea. As long as they will permit it. Hopefully the counter does not reject silver coins. I have bought the $500 half bag off my CU's counter, first time I got about 20+ silver halves, second time about six. I don't buy the dime bags because usually they contain my dumps.

I have not followed this post. But will make an observation about rolls
Banks dislike 1/2 dollars they have to have $1000 face to return them to the Federal Deposit Reserve Bank.. to get $1000 in bills. And of course this is true with all coins.
When I went to my bank they had $360 in 1/2 rolls in the safe they begged me to take... for even money of course..
The reason: 1/2 $ do not move in change.. They have to count them every month as inventory. If you bring $1000 in face to a bank after depleting there existing inventory , there magic number you will be a saint...They might even save them for you knowing you will not bring them back till you have the magic number.

Stephen, that rule varies bank to bank. In my area, $500 bags are shipped out. They are re-rolled locally by the couriers, and re-distributed (locally).

Today my day off, I ventured out in the cool Michigan -2F windchill, and picked up $1800 in hand-rolled. Scored 10 silver rosies and my first S-mint silver Roosevelt. Also found the usual 50+ Canadians, 4 being 1968's but they were slugs. I usually average one silver Canook per $800 dimes searched. ffd  When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors...

Searched a $250 box of dimes this afternoon. Pulled 2 silvers - a 1960 and 1963 Roosevelt.

Went to the bank yesterday and got dimes to search for the first time. (120$ worth) Most were brinks clear plastic wrap so I could look through the plastic for silver, however, I got about 5 customer wrapped rolls. There were absolutely no silver in the brinks rolls, but found a 1962 D in one of the customer wrapped rolls!  . I decided it was about XF condition. Score! |

I think someone dumped a couple of rolls of silver dimes at the grocery store where I work because during each day I work for the past two weeks I have found at least 2 silver ros dimes, I also see about 5 in the auto change machines but they wont let me get at them, GRRAAHH rage...

More coins from the Mexican bank = more payoff. $70 in CWR brought me yet another silver dime. This time its a '49.
Out of this one bank this year I have pulled 9 40% halves, at least six silver dimes, etc, tons of wheats, always sans any kind of large outlay of cash at the time. If I had the available slush cash and time, I'd practically live there.
