As a new person to coin collecting, what rolls do you suggest I go after? Do you find dime rolls tend to have better finds than the other? I ask because I got into paper money a little but a month ago. I then realized that I dont have to go to coin shows or shops to buy US coins because I can find interesting stuff in my change or in rolls. I tend to value stuff for its age compared to the money. While I know coins can be worth something I think too much focus on the value takes away from the fun of searching.

Welcome Alabama, I say that halves are the money makers, but they bore me to death. Especially when your finds are slim! I love searching dimes tho, and of about $20k in dimes this year, I found 19 silver canadian dimes, about 15 Mercury dimes, and around 170+ silver dimes total. I get a lot of variety in dimes, and that's cool. Good luck!

customer seems the way to go for now. I have a feeling that some pesky tellers are snagging them out when they go to ship their bags of to the processing centers. I love getting the rolls before they sort and ship them... =D this would explain why the boxes I get only have 1, maybe 2

Hey SDcoinguy...You said that Wells Fargo has been crap for you...but its all just luck. Last month I picked up only three rolls of dimes one day....second roll...1963-D perfect condition!! From the Wells Fargo Bank! You never know what you are going to find and its all just luck!

Yeah, it is. I use Wells Fargo for my hunting, and they are pretty consistent.

Bought 10 rolls of dimes today and pulled a 1959D.
Can't complain about that!

The last time I did a road trip and picked up dimes I went through about $1200 worth. Most were the clear plastic rolls so I only had to to bust them open when there was a suspect coin. Broke 8 rolls: got 7 non-silver Canadians and 1 1964 Roosevelt. At least it wasn't a skunk!

1 $250 String & Son box nothing in the first half, but I managed a 1959-D and a 1961, along with a 2001 Volunteers commemorative Canadian by the end.

Took on this task this afternoon - not terribly rewarding this time. Did $125 worth of the machine wrapped paper rolls and came up with just two Canadian dimes, the rest were all clad US. Neither Canadian was silver. Oh well - will try again tomorrow perhaps!
