It was just luck that I stumbled upon a proof dime; I lifted the stack of coins at just the right spot to see the cameo and the mirror-like finish. Other than that, I don't actively seek out proofs.

S Roos, if you search enough dimes you will find the proof coins, it's great! In the last year, I have found 3 clad proof and 1 '07 silver proof. My daughter, six, ran off with a proof dime, spent it! Oh well, all good fun.

Had a good day today $200 CWR Pulled a 1958, 1962, 1957 Sailboat, 1966 sailboat, 1968 Sailboat, 2006S Silver Proof. That silver proof was an exciting one to find.
Are those only available in Proof Sets or can you buy Silver Proof Rolls/Coins?

Hybes - you can only get them in the Proof Sets - someone broke it apart at some point and then dumped it. This happens with either inherited collections or theft. |

$400 searched tonight, 1/2 cwr 1/2 pvc tubes. Got my first two mercs of the year. A nice 1945 and a 1944 that looked like its was in a fight with a hammer and punch, and lost.

Nice score SD, congrats on the proof. Check that '68 with a magnet, in case you don't know...if it sticks, too bad. Usually you can just tell by the finish or patina, or a drop test.

SD, for that 1968 dime, do what I call a "magnet test." If the dime does not stick to the magnet, then it is made of 50% silver.

I searched dimes for the first time. One String and Son box and one Brinks box yielded a 1962d in each. I like denominations with more keepers per box (nickels and cents) but finding 90% silver is SWEET!

$200 yesterday:
$100 in string n sons $100 in cwr

both came from the string n sons.
by the way the coins I get wrapped in string n sons come from a GARDA armored truck
