This is a bit off topic since it isn't roll searching but, anyway,my daughter works at McDonalds and she called me this evening and said she found a "weird" dime and wanted to know if I wanted it. When I asked her to describe it she says"It's a 1944 and"and I just said, yes,I want it. She said don't you want any more description? I just said nope,I'll take it off your hands. She said, sometimes you are so weird! I just laughed and said, yep!

Teller kept a silver dime she found for me -- 1958. Said she's going to start looking for more for me. I told her what it was worth and tried to give it back, and she said she wouldn't know what to do with it and was happy to help me out

Silver Roosevelt,

You are correct, Canada did make 50% silver until 1968 but transitioned to steel that year also!
2.07 grams for the steel
2.33 grams for the silver
I had no idea until I read this thread!
P.S. the 1969 Lg date Canadian dime is was your after $$$$$$$$

Mattyj - nice pickup. 5 from a box is really good. I also usually get 1 at most.

I did a box of Brinks today and got skunked. I seem to have much better luck with the N.F. String boxes around me. Also, I have yet to find a Canadian dime or a Mercury dime. I guess I'd better up the ante! I'm using my Christmas money for dime boxes now so I have some capital to work with!

I think I am retiring from dime roll searching after today. I've gone through $2000 in String and Son dime boxes and not ONE single silver dime or even an "S" mint mark. Halves and pennies are FAR more fun in my humble opinion.

I bought $20 worth of dime rolls today and all were bright shiny 2010 P rolls.
I know that there are roll collectors that would have liked these but I was discouraged since
I was looking for older dimes. I guess I will try a different bank tomorrow. Also, I searched a $100 worth of quarters,
it was fruitless. Is quarter roll hunting a huge waste of time these days?

4th merc of the year! 1920 well worn but still an awesome coin. They are still out there.

Also pulled a 1957 and 1967 silver canadian with a trout on the reverse.

I wouldn't say searching through quarters is a total waste, although generally you'll find less than you usually do with dimes or halves. I once searched through a total of $290 in CWR and found two silvers: 1934 and 1951. Another hunt, after $410 or so in CWR yielded a single 1964.

I would take those odds on the quarters SilverRoosevelt. I get about 2 dimes per box of dimes. I have done some $500 boxes of quarters and nothing. If I would get one quarter per box I would do it.
