Today, I searched $250 in customer wrapped rolls and they yielded the following:

*4 silvers: 1958, 2x 1962D, 1964.
*2 Canadians: 2001 & 2006.
*An English 5 Pence coin.
*A Spanish 5 Peseta coin.
*My first proof from circulation, a clad 1993S.

I should stick to CWR's more often.

silverRoosie..

yes. stick to customer. while you may strike the load doing boxes, CWR's will soon be the only way one will find silver becuase of the boxing companies snatching it out

Today's harvest from $1k in handrolled. 6 Roosie, 1 merc, and 3 silver sailboats...this was from $600 at one bank, the other bank I'm suspicious of the tellers, $400 there produced zilch.

I searched a box today and $35 in CWR's. Nothing again. Dimes have been unkind lately. 2 more boxes are coming this Thursday.

Nobis1 - Not to mention that dimes hurt your eyes. I nearly went blind going through the last box of 250!! Halves are much more eye friendly.

Prior to this hunt, I searched boxes of dimes. The best I've ever gotten out of a box was two silver dimes. I went with CWR this time because I've read here that silver is being yanked out by the boxing companies.

Another reason I went CWR today was this; last week I found two silver quarters in $290 worth of CWR's (one was a 1934 and another was a 1951). I figure if silver quarters can be overlooked, surely a few silver dimes have been unknowingly rolled up.

At this point, I'll only search through boxes of pennies and nickels to pull out any Wheats, War Nickels, early Jeffersons, Buffalos, etc, unless someone has posted on here with greater finds from CWR's of those coins as opposed to boxes.

I still await to find my first Mercury dime in circulation...

Don't worry Silver Roose, the boxing companies are not pulling silver. In my last 3 years of searching dimes, my finds really have been consistant. My finds between boxes and cwr's remain the same. One change is that there are now more hunters, and silver-saavy tellers. I just can't imagine that rolling co's would be bothered with extracting silver dimes. Silver halves maybe (no), but dimes? These companies are in business to roll coin, that's it. Others have mentioned the US govt extracting silver and copper from circulation...with billion dollar deficits, they have bigger fish to fry than to piddle around with a couple million worth of silver left in circulation. i ment to ask this on this forum not silver roll hunting coming to a end. so here goes again.
i have been buying cwr of halves. I'm just wondering when you ask for dimes. do you say can I get dimes that customers bring in. or do you just ask for some dimes. what if they want to give you a case. its easy with halves. they usually dont have halves by the case so you just get cwr where I live.

Frankin, I always specify that I'd like the customer wrapped rolls. On occasion I will get a few "Fed" rolled peppered in there too, like today, I got 20 2010d rolls, which I didn't realize until I got home. Probably spend those on gas.

yeah franklin, you just ask. that's really all there is to it. you might try and give the teller a nice smile in the process, as I've found it can really go a long way in getting them to help you.

I picked up a box of N.F. String dimes for tonight during the snow. These boxes have been great to me with pennies so I'll see what I find in these!

Do you guys just look for silver? I had been going through boxes looking for DDOs and all the rest but dimes are so hard to see they hurt my eyes. I now decided that I will look for silver only. I get the rolls that are in clear plastic and just look for the white ones. The rest I pur into a bucket and dump back at the bank while I get more. I figure the speed I can pick out silver will make up for and DDOs and such that I pass up. Comments?

I just go for silver. It takes too long to look for the other stuff, and frankly I'm not that interested!
