Murrellington, I've searched only cwr dimes for over a year now, averaging $1,700 a month. That's about all I have patience for now, when I first started over 3 years ago I ordered mostly boxes and averaged about $3k a month. Had a sweet setup with my CU in which they accepted $500 bags of loose dimes/halves, but the vault was tiny. I lost that sweet setup after awhile. I also used the nice counter another CU had, but it sometimes would count dimes as cents, and the CU would credit my accout if I brought it to their attention. I now re-roll (something that I told myself I would never do). I don't recall ever counting coins before I dumped bags or even now when I re-roll, and have never had an inquiry as to short rolls/bags.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors...

i couldn't imagine re-rolling all of those. do you get weird looks when you bring in that many dimes to whatever bank you dump at? especially if you dump there often?
my wells fargo says I can bring in bags of dimes or nickels or whatever to them. they said I just need to note how much is in the bag and they will immediately credit my account. then they send the bags off and if the bag is short they take out of my account, and if it is over they will credit my account. but they will charge $2 per bag that I dump. not bad if it is a $1000 bag of halves, but if it is $50 in cents then that's a rip off.
anyways, I just end up dumping at a local bank that has a free coin counter.

Would you be willing to do it for $2 a bag? A friend of mine used to catch heck for bringing in $1000+ a day in machine wrapped quarters, and he was running a vending route, not just shuffling coins back and forth. |

I would be willing to pay the $2 a bag if I were searching 10 boxes of halves like some of these people. 10 boxes would fit in 5 bags which would cost $10 to dump. You can get enough silver to cover that cost.
Right now since I am married and my wife doesn't work, and we are both in college so we're brok... I roll search smaller denominations and not as often, so I just stick to the free coin cointer. honestly if I had more money I wouldn't care about fees, because coin searching is fun. right now when money is tight I need to worry about it.

i hate when your searching dimes and there is a canadian dime in there it gets your hopes up for nothing

I drop off several $1,000 bags a week at one of my banks and they don't charge me anything....
Just like anything, if you can't get what you want at one of the banks then try another.

Yesterday$400 = 4 . 62d,63,64d and my 1st mercury with a mm on it : 1945S plus a 2004S proof Today $200 = 1954 . no hole fillers but silver dime is a silver dime ! Yesterday I pulled a roll from the box with 3 coins with no copper on the rim and after open  it was 3 canadian dime (no silver ) it drives me crazy . Edited by Ricardocody

Did 1k in Dimes this week. I pulled 3 Rosys! I also pulled a 1960 Canadian Dime. Thats an avg of one per Box  I am really liking how dimes are treating me lately. I do have a question though, I am filling an album and it seems that all the 70s Dimes are seriously rough. Would it be better to just fill holes with whatever rather than trying to put together a AU set from roll hunting? |

100 in CWR yielded one 36 Merc. We have a box from Brinks sitting here to go through still. We shall see.

Those Canuk dimes can really fool a person.
I have noticed the reeding on the edge is a little different than US coin.
Even so, after roll upon roll of clad, any different color can give the ticker a jump start!

I do notice a different reeding.... but as you said when you see roll after roll of clad and you finally notice a different color... I dont really look at the reeding too carefully. I look at the coin real quick hoping for american silver. lol. it is so suspenseful. |

Even tho I see 5-30 Canadians per $500 searched, the silver ones still stand out, it's that patina. I can even tell the difference in the 50% 1968's just by the color.

Is there any difference between the edge of a Canadian Dime versus an American one? When I searched a box several days ago, I started to notice the edge of a Canadian has very slightly different grooves than an American and is also far shinier - of course because it's newer.

Todays box had 2 silver's and 1 foreign. Got a brittish 5 pence. the silvers were: 1940 1962 d got my first mercury!     dancing fruit to celebrate. |
