I did a box in hopes to find the 2009d that I need to complete my 65-present, but did not. Got 6 2009p. Also got a 1956, but my best fines were a 1941 Mercury, and a 1942d Mercury out of the same roll. The 1942 is almost EF40 if it is not. That was only my second box of dimes ever and I hated the first box, but now after that one I like them.

I searched through $250 in a combination of Fed-wrapped and customer rolls ($140 Fed-wrapped and $110 CWR, specifically). It was an interesting hunt, to say the least:

I found:

*Two silver Roosevelts, a 1948-D and a 1952.
*Four Canadians and two 5p coins from England.
*Someone put eight Lincolns in one roll, costing me 72 cents.

I did my first coin roll search ever with a box of dimes last week and I ended up with two 1964D in the last 4 rolls. If I had ended up empty-handed on the first box, I probably wouldn't have ever bothered again.

don't talk like that! lol. people get skunked all the time, you just gotta think the next box will be a good one. I got 2 total out of my last 3 boxes, but the 2 boxes before that got me 10 silver dimes. just keep searching, even if you get nothing in a box!

I didn't mean it as a negative! I was just saying that I was skeptical starting off and got even more skeptical until the end when I pulled some keepers. I was deciding on whether this was all worth it, and it sure helps to have early success!

I know exactly what you mean... I tried halves once and got like 10 rolls that were allmarked and searched already. I got someone elses dump. And I haven't tried since. I hope to try again soon. So yes early success definately helps.

Just cracked the 1st 4 rolls of my 1st box last night... and nothing so far. About 10 dimes in the 1960's but no silver yet. Oh well, 46 rolls to go!

I have been getting 2 boxes per week from my main bank. 10 boxes in a row, and all were skunks.

Has anyone ever run into a streak like this before?

I have got boxes from other banks in the area before, and averaged 1 per box. It seems kinda strange.

What else are we searching for besides silver in these boxes of dimes? Must be something with the horrific hit rate of 1 in 2,500 (or far fewer in cases).

my biggest skunk streak is 1 box. but I've only done 14 boxes so far. 3 out of 14 were skunks. the other 11 that were not skunks held a total 28 silvers.
