Most error/variety collectors are familiar with the "speared" varieties, such as the 2000P Sacagawea eagle or the 2005D Buffalo nickel.

And when it comes to overpolished dies, of course, the 1937D 3-legged Buffalo or the 1922D No D Lincoln or the 1982P No P Roosevelt dime comes to mind.

Well, what if the Lincoln Memorial were speared,

and it scared Lincoln so bad that he ran!

Wow That is very neat. I like that one !

But you know that with the White House being just right down the way... all he would have to do is take a stroll passed the Viet Nam Memorial and than stop by the WW-II Reflecting pool... and than just hang a left just before the Washington Monument.. head over to see President Obama

Not to worry if he go's to far past the Washington Monument....There is the Boy Scouts of America Reflection pool I am sure a Eagle Scout will set him right!

Yeah, I liked it, too! I bought a roll of 69S and found 2 of the missing statue coins. Except on the 2nd one, you can just barely see his knees, lol. I haven't searched anywhere near as many coins as some of you, but this was the first one I seen that was that heavily polished.

I also found this "near miss".
