Two questions:
1. I read on pricing guides FBM and MS when it refers to these halves. What is the difference?
2. I tallied up the AU column for a full set of the halves and it came to around $500. Does that seem plausible?
thanks, Jim

If you are referring to FBL rather than FBM - then its Full Bell Lines.

thanks, afcop....I'm researching the web on full bell lines -- described as "when both the top and bottom bell lines are struck fully and without interruption..."
I begin by assuming that might mean the crack in the bell does not interrupt the strike of the bottom of the bell; that there is a continuum along the bottom of the bell?

outstanding, bio....thanks a lot. Do you think the aggregate price total for a complete AU+ set is right?

Yes, you should be able to assemble a nice AU set for around $500 and you could probably get a low MS set for around $800 or so.

Not sure about an au set, but I recently finished a ms64+fbl set (two are ms only, and some are proofs, couldnt affort the fbl) and it ended up costing me over 4 times what the au set costs. It was lots of fun tracking down all of the coins and they look great.

While putting together an Au set can also be fun, Going for a set in MS64 or better is even more fun and rewarding when finished. It may cost you more but you can put it together over a longer coarse of time. It will also give you the best return on your investment should you ever want to sell.

I've benn putting together a set of franklins myself. Some of the mintages a quite low but yet the coins seem very reasonably priced. Are these just not a popular set? Maybe just not very old yet.
