I know you're waiting on the pros to chime in, but I think it looks interesting. Especially since there are no DDO's for that year listed on coppercoins. Didn't see anything listed at CONECA, either. Can you get some other pics up of the whole coin?

I don't really see what you are talking about with the beard.

The tie part could possibly be PMD, could be a die clash, not sure. The bottom of the tie shows what could be doubling or MD. Again, not sure. You're going to have to wait for the pros on this one. The first pic you have shows the separation/doubling on the Y the best, but could just be from Die Deterioration.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. I'm interested in what the pros say, too.

The beard I feel is part of a clash. On an overlay you can see where the fields meet a device in that area.

The letters on LIBERTY Could be of some interest. Check the 2006 DDO's on coppercoins. Some do affect that area of the devices there. The bow tie looks like die wear. The devices on the reverse on the N are questionable. On a pre 1986 coin, you might find doubling in that area. But after the single squeeze process started, the doubling appears to be more in the center (Bars or EPU). There will aways be something new found. The extra columns on the 1990's Cents. But on these devices on the outside edge of the die, they just usually don't happen in this area. On the double/triple hub process in the past, the areas on the out side edges do appear to be affected more, leaving the notching we look for. I would keep it for now. I agree with the die chip on the 7th column left side. I save anything I'm unsure till I am sure before tossing it back. Again, check other coins from the same year/mint mark when you question something. See if anything is common on them that is different on other years. Better images of the notching on the LIBERTY would be helpful. Try rotating the coin to get the light to fall across the notching instead of right into the notching. The glare can happen that will ruin your image. I always rotate the image back to square so we know what we are looking at. The eyes get used to seeing thing better plumb to the world.
