they've know it was coming "sometime" in spring for the last few months but did not have a set date until yesterday I guess. The mint's website still doesn't list it.

I've been waiting for that news !! ....... Of course, unlike the LP1, I'm sure they will mint/release PLENTY of these two roll Sets for everyone ! (like the LP2,3, & 4) So, of course that part kind of sucks......but, to date, I only have ONE Shield Cent, so, it'll be a way to secure "both" mints for me. At $8.95 plus shipping for both rolls.....I really don't want to open the rolls though ! ....Good Grief ! .... I understand folks who "don't" collect "rolls".....but when I have to pay a premium to acquire them......I'm not going to "bust em'!". I'll find my individual high quality examples from some other source......hopefully.

Wish I hadn't spent $8.95 per two roll set (X3) already for regular wrapped! Now I must have these too to maintain my complete set of mint wrapped nickels and pennies.

I have the 2 roll sets from the mint of the '04 to '06 nickels and the '09 cents, but I also got bank wrapped rolls of the nickels, and get the cent rolls with the fancy graphic wraps from an aftermarket outfit, better than the OBW that Brinks or String does. The aftermarkets are nicer looking. I figure to just sit on 'em for a hundred years or so, and wait for the price to go up! Heck, I've sat on larger "investment" amounts. We're really talking pennies here! Steve

I got them all because it was a big change. And it makes a set. Also got an extra mint set (sealed) and proof set of each year. I'll sell them all in another 50 years on my 100th birthday so I can get that titanium casket!

I wonder if it will be the same cost as the 2009 rolls... even though they aren't copper like last year

Coretj the 2009 cents from the mint in the mint wrapped rolls to my understanding were not copper- regular composition. The only copper cents that were produced were in the proof sets, uncirculated sets, and the Lincoln Chronicles sets.
I do think I read somewhere or heard somewhere that the mint has already stopped making 2010 cents and the total mintage for 2010 cents will be in the 150 million range total. That would of course work out to roughly one cent for every two people. Not a total rarity by any stretch of the imagination if true, but certainly a harder to find coin in great shape over the long haul. I'll probably order two sets just to have them preserved for posterity and hopefully the quality will be decent.

coretj, the 2009 Cents in the Mint rolls are zinc business strike coins. The LP1 (Log Cabin) Mint rolls are the 'key', because the Mint underestimated the market's demand, didn't produce enough, and they sold out quickly. The LP2, LP3 and LP4 Mint rolls are 'common', as they were made in greater quantities to meet market demand. Some collectors search the LP2 rolls (in particular) for errors. LP3 and LP4 Mint rolls are still available, at the time of this post.
