I'm gonna say they are worth bullion value. Maybe 13-15 bucks to a silver buyer. You may be able to get a few bucks more for the CC.

that 1921 high relief must be worth more than bullion

Although relatively important dates, neither are in a condition to inspire frenzy among educated collectors. However, when it comes to frenzy, we are greatly blessed with an appropriate venue: ebay. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 1921 exceed $100; even though they're not that uncommon, they tend to get hit like an animal in a piranha-infested river. The 1891-CC is likely only of interest to someone like myself who's doing a lowball set. $50-ish is a reasonable goal. Drop me a note if you go the ebay route with the '91.

So, ebay is where they should go? Do you think that they wouldn't do as well here on CCF?

Yeah, those darn scratches are distracting! Makes you sick doesn't it! Maybe I should just scratch '70% off!' onto the coin.

I would say you are better off on ebay with these two.See completed listings to get an idea of their worth.

If those scratches weren't as distracting as they are, you would have a VF Peace dollar, but it looks like those were placed there and are not normal bag or circulation marks. I would be very surprised if you could get near $100, but on ebay anything's possible. The Morgan, on the other hand, even though the breast feathers are quite worn, the hailines from the top of lady liberty's forehead to the ear are not visible. I would say spot at best for both from a silver collector.

Quote:So, ebay is where they should go? Do you think that they wouldn't do as well here on CCF? I don't think they'd do well here - we tend to know what we're doing at CCF, and neither coin is (to me) worth significant money. You'd be doing the morally-ambiguous thing on ebay - represent the coin properly and let the idjits bid it to the moon. There is actually a pretty enthusiastic subset of Morgan collectors doing lowball sets. PCGS has Registry sets for Lowballs. You'd want to use the word "lowball" in the auction title. The '91 looks like a problem-free, honest-circulation coin which would slab around AG-3 or FR-2 if you're lucky, and you want to tap that audience to sell it.

Thank you Super Dave! Expect them to show up on ebay within the next day on a three day auction. I think I've got some direction now. My estimates are $25-$35 on the peace and $30-$45 on the Morgan. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised to get less then $20 each too. Time to roll the dice! Thanks again everyone!

Maybe you will get lucky and find someone with the initials of M.S. that will want it as it looks as though that is the initials someone carved there.

Or someone who thinks that the MS stands for Mint State and bids it up to uncirculated prices.

Even with the scratches I would expect to see the 1921 high relief sell in the range of $60-$80, and the 1891-CC for $50.
