I have about 2 bucks worth of wheat pennies. When I was a kid my mom would get me rolls of pennies and I would go through them. There could be a zillion dollar penny in my stash and I dont know it. I do know for sure I have an S penny (forget which date) that may or not be worth something, I think its called a large veriety or small variety date penny? something like that. Anyways, is there a place online I can look up each penny, or if I listed the dates here would someone go through a book for me?

exodus125, I will list here the ones that carry a premium (unless you have a common date in ultra-high grade ... unlikely from rolls). 1909-S 1909-S VDB 1914-D 1922 (No D) 1924-D 1931-S 1936-P (Double-die obverse) 1941-P (Double-die obverse) 1943-D/D steel 1943 Copper 1944-D/S 1955 (Double-die obverse) Most of the early S mints are a bit more than P and D mints. Here's the link to the PCGS price guide (this is for PCGS graded coins and the price reflects the highest amount paid for that coin in that grade). http://www.pcgs.com/prices/PriceGui...ln+Cent

I know, I am sorry. I actually type real fast and I really am LAZY, I have my fingers trained to spell jsut because my left hand hits the s faster than my right hand can hit the u. Will make it a point to hit spell check, especially since I am a terrible speller to begin with. do the same thing with have and ahve...

Now you're making no cents at all. btw the 1970-S is a Memorial cent. The last year for wheats was 1958.

cents a lot seatednut.
I am going through my pennies when I get home, I could have sworn I had a penny worth $250 when I found it, and I am pretty sure it was an S mint. Then again, I was a kid, maybe I looked up its value incorrectly.

now I am itching to find out what penny it was. I am now almost certain it was a 1928 large S penny. I know I compared the s on another s penny and it looked to be larger.

is the 1928 penny the only one that involved a large or small S mint?

Yes. Most likely the wheat cents are common dates worth about 3-4 cents each.
Try Numismedia.com.
