I finally got my hands on a few little Irish coins. I'm posting them for those on the forum that may not have seen Irish (pre-Euro) coins before. I did not make the purchase for quality. I bought them because they are IRISH and it's a start on my collection of Ireland coins. Enjoy!

Josie - that's great! I just happened across these today. They were very inexpensive here in the U.S. starting at .10 - 1.50. I was thrilled to find them and now another collector of them on the forum is great!

I always thought that the Irish used the British currency.

Must depend which part of Ireland you are in>

We got a few 3p and a 6p. Since I am part Irish my wife was wanting to get some so we got some with our birth years. They are some neat little coins. Will get more in the future or rather I think she will. She is the world coin collector.
Rest in Peace

The coins dsking posted brings back memories.

I know that I have quite a few put away somewhere, but not sure where. Hopefully I'll come across them one of these days.

I'm mostly Irish, and the visit to "The Olde Sod" a few weeks ago was very memorable. What a beautiful country. The only Irish coins we brought back however, were Euros.

So you have a blood line of irish, thats good, last summer I did buy mostly of my coins in car booth, but I do buy some coin in dublin if some hard to find,

one of the seller in our county taking to other old guys and saying if some one will going to buy them, they are having a laugh.

I did mostly worn and circulated coins he is selling by lot, just in case you know someone in other county this coming summer you can inquire at them a relative or something, but other seller and him they know the rare one ,

other seller in car booth selling coins by piece they know there stuff, especially the higher denomination in pre euro

they selling pearse shilling for 20 euro got 2 both variation,I just bougth one, dont want to go home empty handed lucky I go the upside down side incription,

now they are selling the pearse for dealer for resell if you know some one in other county it is handy, I'm base in only one county, and carbooth is over this winter.

email me if you want in coins pre euro, dont expect good condition you know what stage they are mostly circulated and worn,

I saw the gallery of you and dsking they are beatifull you just clean coins that I will going to send they are not superb.

Josie: I am THRILLED - no I'm ECSTATIC! I couldn't have even imagined that I would receive such a wonderful, wonderful package from you!! I felt a generousity but, this is beyond belief! Thank you SO VERY MUCH! I gave them to my Irish husband for an early birthday present - I just couldn't wait I was so excited!

What can I send you from the States to repay this beautiful, kind hearted generousity? Please, please let me know!

Thanks again with all my heart!
Deb
ps: I'm not sure yet what County my family is from in Ireland...I suspect Northern. My husbands "Mc" and "Murphy" families are from Clare and Cork!
