if it is real.. seems like the pricing guide for dealers would be like $250 bucks.. why would someone pay nearly 600 for it?

Well you would have to add the extra gold from the chain. I would guess that would add about $140 to the $250 = $390 And then maybe Market price is higher than what a dealer would pay. Maybe?

You would not believe the number of people that do not realize 14kt gold is less than 60% gold content, someone probably thinks they are getting around a half ounce of gold there.

And I'd be willing to bet a buck or 3 that only the clasp is 14K.
Very common scam in and around the big cities. The cons buy gold colored rope chain by the foot and assemble "14K gold chains" with 14K gold clasps that say 14K on them.

I have another view on this, the ad states the owner did not claim the property in the 3year time period by law.
I wonder if anyone in the states comp's office contacted the next of kin or looked into any living relatives, before placing the property up for sale to benefit the state. Sounds like you do not want to forget or leave anything in a safety deposit box or the likes, in the state of Maryland!!! At least without a will or a next of kin notice......

Some banks confiscate un-paid safety deposit boxes. So pay or loose.

Quote: Some banks confiscate un-paid safety deposit boxes. So pay or loose. Actually the majority of them do. If the person has not paid or died and no one claims the property they clean it out and get rid of the items. Most will send letters to the last known address but probably 75% of the time if they are deceased no one will get the letter. I think 3 years of no payment and no word on who the rightful owner is an appropriate amount of time to wait before you clean it out and sell off the contents to pay for the rent you have lost while you wait

I would think some laws or policy would be in place for people who place property in a "safe deposit box" that would deem the bank responsible to , while applying for the box, require those people to have a list of contact people to contact in case you take ill, or pass away.
I do think 3-years is an honorable time frame, but the whole idea of a safe deposit box would be the contents are safe, not just while you pay. Life has a way of getting in the way of people and there future plans, I have added a list of people to my application just because of this topic, another " fell through the cracks " problem , but I am sure if it were your family, you would have more to say....Just my opinion.

I don't have a SDB, and until my incopme reaches six figures, there is no need for one. On the "pendant, the 'cord is worth next to nothing, at 14k. The coin itself is worth the bullion value, because of the ring it is encircled with. That usually reduces any coin to "melt value, IMHO. Dick
