I have been working flat out like a lizard drinking (excuse the Aussie lingo) and haven't been spending much time on this wonderful hobby lately. As some of you may know, I am attempting to put together a world type set of King George V coins.

And this little beauty is the latest acquisition.

Not square!

Actually that is part of my attraction to the George V coins. I can collect square and scalloped coins as well in the same theme.

There are a few reasons for choosing George V. Firstly I really like the design of the crowned effigy of George V, being a Monarchist myself it really appeals to me.

Secondly, there are so many to collect. I have identified 168 different coins I will need to complete the set. Some quite easy, and some quite difficult in high grades. Especially for the keys.

There is also the history aspect. The Commonwealth being a much larger group of countries back then, and the coins all tie such a large part of the world together. With so much of the modern world being shaped at that time, it is a study in history as well.

I also don't know of anyone else who has put together an entire world type set of George V coins in Uncirculated condition or better, so there is that challenging aspect of it as well.

Needless to say, I still have a little way to go....
