The show was great fun. There were some incredible displays and a good crowd with 24 dealers set up. Two of the displays were noteworthy. The first was my friends Cap and Ray display. He had examples of all 14 mints and had 8 reales, 4 reales, 2 reales, 1 reales and an assortment of other small denomination coins like quartas all layed out on a background map of Mexico. Beautiful examples from Real De Catorce and Estado de Mexico mints (both very difficult to find) as well as some high end examples from the other mints. The other amazing display was of Talers (Zohar where are you?), the display must have had over 35 nice examples, all NGC and all very interesting. It was quite a treat to see that many in one place. My own display of Spanish Colonial 8 Reales from the Mexico City mint was well received and generated a lot of positive comments.
The show overall was great, I only bought one coin for myself, a civil war token that caught my eye. I also bought a token to donate to the Santa Barbara Coin Club Token collection. The club no longer exists but the incredible collection of Santa Barbara tokens that they assembled over a 45-50 year run is still intact and whenever I see one that I don't remember them having, I buy it to donate. If I find out there is already an example in the collection, I just keep it for myself.
