It looks pretty good to me. Those are pretty scarce - wait for a pro's confirmation, but that could be a very exciting find!

I always thought the close-AM for 1999 and wide-AM for 2000 were supposed to be for proof coins, and they were mistakenly used as circulation strike dies. Is this correct?

The proof coin is a Close AM, that's the rare one on the proof coins. The proof is supposed to be a Wide AM.... The circulation strikes with the Wide AM are the ones struck by what should have been proof dies. So 1999S Close AM proof....scarce 1999 WideAM (proof die) circulation strike....scarce.

Very nice. Now you have to very carefully remove it from it's home and get it off to a TPG. Real careful like ! Hope for a PR69 Then get back out and find the 98-S That one is even scarcer.

The 1999S in a proof set brings a $75 to $100 premium for the set. Graded, I think they bring more, but have seen very few of them sell. I believe a PR67DCAM will bring around $60, PR68DCAM runs somewhere around $150, and a PR69DCAM would bring $300 or so. These are scarce, but not rare. I have handled five of them, and for me to have five of them they cannot be rare. The 1998S is a completely different story. In the set they bring at least a $500-$600 premium. Graded they would bring moon money, from $1000 up. I would imagine a pristine PR69DCAM could bring upwards of $2000. They are rare, and I have handled one of them - it was the discovery set, I purchased it directly from the discoverer for $1200 shortly after its discovery. It's the one that was featured in Coin World when it was first discovered in Enid, Oklahoma back in 2005, I believe it was.

HUGE find! Congrats!
As already stated, the 98-S is the big one. Check your 98 proof sets. I seek them out at every coin show I attend because 99.9% of dealers don't even know about them....they're easy to cherrypick!

And it would look like this: The spots are on the lens or the way the light is reflecting on the coin. there is not a blemish on it. It will be graded soon. It should go at least Pr-69 DCAM Jim
