looks like they've just changed it so that you need to have been a member 90 days, and have 250 posts in order to sell here...
kinda stinks cause I'm not going to wait another 2 months to sell these coins. I guess my opinion doesn't matter much, but why up the amount of posts and time necessary to sell things? Now I've got coins that members could have made out pretty well on, but since I can't sell him here all of you're "valued members" wont have a chance to buy them...
I'm a member of many other forums in which buy/sell sections are included, and in some of those forums there are restrictions for newer members, but not any as large as the one I've seen here. I guess my argument against it is that now all of you're members here are going to miss out on the coins I was going to sell for very reasonable prices.. Oh well.

Well if you send them in for grading, you will probably have to wait a while anyways. I'd still say send the 21-d in at least. The rest you can put up on ebay.

heh, the 1921-D was the first one I put up for sale on ebay! I was debating getting it graded for a while, but then decided against it, mainly because of the amount of time it takes to get coins graded, along with the cost. Hopefully it doesn't effect the sale too much..

I'm not looking to sell anything, but what good does that do? I tried to post a link from a Colonial museum that has this cool online exhibit... I found it when I was searching on Colonials and I found it fascinating. It was deleted within a few minutes, even though the link clearly fell within the guidelines prescribed. I've asked twice now why it was deleted so that I know what to not do again, and nobody answered. I don't understand this touchy politics stuff... it's a forum for us to learn and share, right? If it's going to be a member's only club, make it a member's only club and call it that, right? Strange behavior...

yeah, I agree.. I was under the assumption that after I was here for 2 weeks and had 50 posts that I could try to sell some of my coins on the site here.. but then it appears within the past few days they changed the prerequisites for selling.. you can still buy after 50 posts and 14 days though?
I don't know, it's like I said before.. i'll still find a way to sell my coins, it's not going to stop me, it just makes it so that members who look to buy here miss out on the good deals I was going to be offering...

Yeah, I don't know what spurred that sudden change. I can see how the fact that more participation in the forums would might allow for a higher confidence level in the reliability of the seller, but the change seemed to be very large and sudden. Maybe one of the moderators/administrators can step in and explain.

You know, I noticed a change on 5/2, also - I don't know what the change was, but it leaves me to believe there has been one or more bad actors here. Unfortunately, I guess you have to cater to the lowest common denominator, right? Joel - it sounds like you have some cool coins. What other fora do you participate in (or is this a PM kinda question?)

This is the only coin forum I'm on, mainly because I inherited this collection and was looking to sell most of it, while starting a small mini-collection of my own. I might see if I can find another forum that is more buy/sell heavy though, just so that I can hopefully move these coins as I really don't like ebay personally.

Oh. I got from: Quote: I'm a member of many other forums in which buy/sell sections are included, and in some of those forums there are restrictions for newer members, but not any as large as the one I've seen here. that you were on other forums where I might be able to contact you. I can't find a way to contact you easily through this forum. Oh well... =)

isn't there a private message function on this forum, one through which I could possibly give you my email?

No. The PM system is meant only for members with over 50 posts, and members that do that meet that criteria cannot PM others. It would be against the rules for you to PM Delaner and sell the coins to him, since members with below 50 posts cannot buy. I suggest you sell the coins on ebay, I'm sure the key dates especially will do very well there.

I'd just sell on ebay. You'll make more money. It's debatable whether or not it's safer but ebay does offer some buyer and seller protections.

Yeah, the 1921-D is listed on ebay currently.. I'm sure you guys can recognize it =). The reason I personally am not in love with ebay is because my relatively low usage and the fact that I only have 2 feedback scores will likely make buyers weary, along with the fact that I personally prefer money order, and not paypal... but oh well, guess you have to make sacrifices if you don't want to take a 200 dollar hit and sell to the local dealer..

Quote: because my relatively low usage and the fact that I only have 2 feedback scores will likely make buyers weary, Please don't take this personal, because we don't know each other. You don't have a history here either, so potential CCF buyers might be just as weary about buying from you. At least buyers on ebay have paypal or ebay protection, whatever they call it these days.

I was kind of looking forward to seeing what you had for Lincolns but I'm happy for the extra protection against shady sellers here - ie- the longer "getting to know you time". As far as selling on ebay, I'm not sure I would buy a key or semi key coin who's owner was new to the site (2 feedbacks). You probably should have sold a bunch of common stuff first. good luck anyways.
