NGC graded this Walker, see if you can guess the grade they gave it.

Nice! I'm torn between 12 and 15, but I'm gonna go with F-15.

Thats a nice 1916 Walker. Plenty of detail left, and I'll go F12, although 15 wouldn't shock me as there is still some decent detail in the hemlines, etc.

Hi Dewayne, it's good to see some more of your 50-centers!

This one is solid for F-12 but does not deserve F-15 IMO. Here is my 1920-D that wsa graded F-15 by PCGS. I thought it had a shot at VF-20 when I submitted it but in retrospect I think PCGS was "tough but fair." Your coin is a nice original example that should clearly grade a notch below my '20-D.

F-12 needs a little more detail for 15

Put me in the F12 camp...but an F15 wouldn't knock me out of my chair.

This Walker is the reason you need to learn to grade and not even trust a TPG.

Steve,

I do own it and will be keeping it because of the VF20 on the slab. Its not a bad looking keydate, just not a Very Fine.

Jaobler,
I really like that 20D! Now that is a hard date in VF!

I'd be tempted to call NGC up on their guarantee...try to get cash or a real VF20 out of the deal.

Before I saw the slab, I thought, "VF." Then I looked up, "Grading Walking Liberty half dollars" on the web.

The information I read supports the VF for this coin, this year.

That is higher than I thought, though the reverse carries the grade imo. The reverse looks stronger to me than Jaoblers example, solid 15/20 to me, while the obverse looked 12. Those TPGs can be unpredictable sometimes.
