i have been examining my coins with an inexpensive microscope, and have been having some fun, and finding a few nice finds. I think I am ready to invest in a USB microscope. I would like to stay under $200.00. I am soliciting others advice and suggestions. I would like it to be photo capable. any info, or insights are appreciated?

Now that I have my refund for the QX5, I'm in the same boat as you dbrablec.
I can tell you this, make sure it is compatible with your operating system! And make sure you are dealing with "an authorized dealer" of whatever you buy. My QX5 turned out to be defective, but it still did not help that I was trying to run it on Vista and I had a hard time getting anything resolved with the manufacturer because I did not buy it from an authorized dealer.
SuperDave mentioned a Celestron, I think I will look into these, but I don't know if the price tag is under your $200 target or not.

I have a Celestron 44302, (look at my posts) I paid $60. It's OK for what you pay for it. I suggest a Dino-Light, JP324 has one and it takes great pix and the lighting is a lot more user friendly. John1

What operating system are you running John? I read another thread awhile back where I think you said you had to "fix the pics"? And who/what is JP324?

I am running XP. JP324 is a CCF member. I have to "fix" my pix using Picnik.com and then I put them on Photobucket.com to post them here.

I've got a Celestron 44306; costs about $90. I am pretty satisfied with it. I am running Windows 7.

Great photo's those celestron usb 'scopes look pretty slick. Anyone know if there are other name brand ones on the market? All I can find are equipment from Hong Kong...no name.

Ya, like night and day. I have the 44302 and my nephew has a Dino. Thing is the Dino cost a lot more but is way better, so if you can afford it go Dino. John1
