So my wife is into non-domestic coin collecting (quite complimentary to yours truly) and she has her hear set on completing a Canadian and french type set.

I know that Old dansco albums are available loosely on the internet cause they stopped production. And I know I could order a blank album and 19mm, 26mm etc blank pages... Or doing 2x2 pages. But these ways just seem like a cop-out when you're used to looking at specifically made US Dansco albums.

Wouldn't you all agree the reason we put coins into albums is because of how they just beam when you have a labeled page that has every hole filled. I know I love that feeling when I see a full page.

So my question is are there any Canadian collectors out there that have figured out an appealing and cost effective way to collect and display a Canadian type set?

TLDR: Ideas on how to get a Canadian typeset album that is current?

For the kids I've been buying the Uni-Safe little blue books in all denominations, they are cheap, simple and display the coins well. For larger collections (like all those darned quarters they issue every time a baby farts) I've gone to the Uni-Safe large brown folder that you can insert pages into. They usually come with five sheets and easy to assemble and have nice presentation value.

The little blue ones have no labeling method, the large brown ones have strips that can be labeled.

They are made by Unitrade Associates and do sell on ebay. I have traditionally bought mine from Colonial Acres in Canada. They ship to US as well and have good prices.

Unisafe albums have a funny plastic-y smell to them, though. I fear they might have PVC. Anyone know for sure?

I'd write them to be sure before I put anything valuable in them.

Definitely, you don't want to put your coins in a PVC book. Personally I use 2x2s and a binder. It lets me see both sides of the coin and I can label them to identify them.

well we talked it over last night, I'm going with a Dansco 7000 for her Canadian and french type sets, and generic 4x5 sheets for other coins. Seems to be the most cost effective / visually appealing way of doing it. Good compromise IMO.

Since I said I would follow this up

I got an answer back from Unitrade Associates. I didn't see anything obvious concerning email quotes in forum policy but I removed the senders contact details anyhow to be on the safe side.

I was advised that we use a safe guard product in our products, which are safer than PVC.

Hope that helps,
