Auction in this hillbilly area.I know the auctioneer and my step-brother works for him.Estate sale. Some old guy died and they are selling all of his stuff. His family lives in Cali so they haven't looked at any of his stuff. The jar of halves are all standing and the mason jars of pennies are truely unsearched.Mostly Indian heads as this guy was 82 yrs old.I have talked to the auctioneer and he is gonna save the jars for last so everyone has gone.I hope I get lucky. If so,I will have some stuff for auction.Maybe some unsearched rolls.Hehehehe

Now there's an auctioneer I would not want to deal with.

Good luck with that. I have sat at auctions for six or more hours waiting for the coins to be brought up. So if you encounter any diehards like myself be prepared to bid. Also be on the lookout for those not willing to wait for an Item to enter the ring and will bug a ring man to death until he brings the items up for bids. I also must agree with fiddler, it is very unethical and illegal in some states for auctioneers to hold items away until the very last in order to favor a certain bidder or bidders.

Either way you'll probably make out bigtime. Podunk auction houses are one of the best places to pick up valuable coins en masse for a song.

I won't sit around & wait until the end of the auction for a couple of items so I guess the strategy ya'll have cooked up will have some positive results. However, I think it's a blatant attempt to manipulate the price of the item, which ultimately is cheating whoever consigned the item.

Good luck - hope you fill some holes, get some extras, and have some fun with it.
