That is a serious case of woodgrain!

The price seems to be pretty reasonable for what it is. It's hard to see the obverse through all that woodgrain, but the wheat lines on the reverse look pretty good!

Hi cwb,

To be completely honest this coin is about as unattractive a coin as I have seen in awhile, IMO its not a woodgrain it suffers from severe environmental damage and perhaps a feeble attempt to clean some of it off.

I can't see it good enough to authenticate it.

That's what I was thinking too. The color of the streaks is off. It should not have a silver color to it.

I agree. I don't think it is wood grain.

Also I see damage near the second "T" in TRUST. And what ever that is on the coin, seems to be flaking off, in front of the forehead and on the back of the head.

I would lean toward paint. But as they say, that is just my opinion

Metalman is right. This is a damaged coin and not woodgrain.

Oh, and it's really not a horrible deal if you don't mind a damaged coin. It's a VF-30 coin and he's only asking G money for it. Nonetheless, I'd rather have solid G coin that's not been damaged.

When I first saw this coin, it reminded me of that 1921-S woody cent that BadThad had posted a while back:

https://goccf.com/t/62780

I was thinking that this looked similar, but now that I've actually gone back and dug up that old thread, this coin looks nothing like that woodgrain on Thad's 21-S.

I'm glad I consulted with you guys first. I actually considered putting in an offer on it when I first saw it. Thanks for the help!
