Perhaps A Florentine Silver Lire? (Id: Likely 15th Century Florence Grosso)

Sap Moderator Australia 16816 Posts	Posted 05/09/2010 06:46 am It's definitely from Florence, but if you could give us the size and/or weight, that could help narrow down the denomination. A picture might help, as well. I found this example on CoinArchives of a silver florin, with the same legend as yours, dating from circa 1200 AD. Historical note: the above CoinArchives link will expire six months after the original auction of this coin in January 2010.
