Unknown coin, didn't know when my father got it:

One side has a fleur de lis with FLORENTIA written around it it.

Other side with St.John the Baptist with S.IOHA NNES.B. written around it.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

It's definitely from Florence, but if you could give us the size and/or weight, that could help narrow down the denomination. A picture might help, as well.

I found this example on CoinArchives of a silver florin, with the same legend as yours, dating from circa 1200 AD.

Historical note: the above CoinArchives link will expire six months after the original auction of this coin in January 2010.

It is just smaller than the size of a quarter and very thin. It looks almost exactly like the match 2 on the webpage, but silver.

Years too late, but this 13th Century Fiorino vecchio da denari 12 looks like a good match based on the OP's description:

Hmm ... The legends fit almost every coin struck in Florence between 1200 and 1530.

The size also fits a 15th century grosso (much more common type) pretty well (the break in the name varied): https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=12444236

Ok thx for the gentle course-correction. I've fixed the title.

Looks like it was "one and done" (and quite a while ago!) for that contributor anyhow ...
