Rayhaldo- A pretty 8R! While the devices on the obverse and reverse look rather correct, the true determining factors are weight and the edges. Would it be possible for you to both post pictures of the edges (so we can see the overlaps of the edger dies) as well as weigh it?

Looks perfect, beautiful 8. Archraz is correct in saying you should always weigh the coin so you can see if it is within tolerance for the type. Interesting "chop" next to the left pillar, this coin has obviously been a traveler.

Coin has weighed in at 26.9 grams with a diameter of 40mm. There are two overlaps at 180 degrees apart and the edge design is clearly circles and squares. I will post pictures sometime this week.

Just wanted to update everyone.

After learning enough to determine if I feel comfortable with a coins authenticity I have decided to return this coin to the seller and they have agreed. (Another one of my mis-guided ebay purchases - I have learned my lesson).

The fileds, the edge and roughness around the date and some of the letters made me feel uncomfortable. I am not an expert and it may have been authentic however, I would rather be assured that my purchase is from a known reputable dealer.

Also, I had purchased another 8 Reale from this same seller that to me was very suscipicious and anyone on this forum would have returned that coin as well. So I returned both coins.

I have purchased an authentic Carolus IIII 1806 MoFM 8 Reale from a reputable dealer.
